Reports from Spain have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet crashed at Barcelona airport after the plane’s landing gear broke on impact with the runway.
The Real Madrid superstar and his family weren’t on the plane when the incident occurred on Monday evening and fortunately nobody was hurt during the crash.
The Gulfstream G200 aircraft’s landing gear reportedly malfunctioned as it prepared to land at Barcelona’s El Prat airport. The crash forced the closure of one runway as emergency services worked quickly to deal with the reported £16 million plane.
According to The Mirror, a source said of the crash: “The plane is normally rented by companies and it was in use by one of them.
“Cristiano Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the plane. The incident had no major consequences.”
