Icon Magazine, the publication that alleged in March that 2face Idibia had an affair with and impregnated a Lagos banker, has reached an out of court settlement with the singer and issued an apology to him.
Following the publication by the magazine a law suit was filed by Media/Entertainment Law Firm of L & A- Legal Consultants on behalf of 2Face, at the Ikeja High Court, asking the court to award their client the sum of N100 million, being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine’s online and print platforms.
An out of court settlement has now been reached after which a public apology delivered has been signed by the Managing editor.
The public apology reads, “We admit that we failed to verify the source, or contact your team (960 Music Group) for a response before printing the fabricated story.”
“We have since discovered the story was false and regret the embarrassment it has caused you and your family.”
“We regret the indiscretion, and hereby apologize sincerely for our errors as our reporter was completely misinformed. We hope you would accept our apology and forgive us.”
A statement in response to the public apology, read: “The 960 Music Group on behalf of 2Face Idibia would like to accept the official written apology from Icon Weekly Magazine.
