Good day, brethren.
I hope this article meets you well.
The title of today’s message is taken from Psalm 84 v 11.
There’s no doubt that what is happening in the world right now with the Coronavirus situation is unwelcome by anybody. It is also very depressing and distressing.
It is, however, the best time to turn unto God because no matter how terrible or bad any situation is, God is unchanged and unmoved by that situation.
One thing I have realized as a Christian is that when situations and circumstances are really bad (although no one prays for bad circumstances) it is usually an opportunity for God to show his everlasting love and abundant mercies.
This is the way I put it: “The darker it is, the brighter the light of God shines.”
The bible says in Psalm 84v11 : “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly“.
Let us pause for a moment and meditate on the first part of the scripture, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield.”
In this scripture, God is being compared to one of his creations, the Sun.
I could go into all the scientific make-up of the sun but let’s not.
The light provided by the sun is so bright, no natural or artificial light can make any part of the earth surface that is receiving direct sunlight any brighter.
What that means is this: If the sun is shining brightly on an open space, no amount of any other source of light can make that space brighter.
If one of his creations could provide that much illumination that nothing else can match how much more God himself?
The psalmist could find nothing else to compare God with so he used one of God’s creations.
This is the time to shine the light of God unto the situation by holding on to his word.
The bible says further in Proverbs 4v18, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day“.
As you continue to put your trust in the Lord, your situation will continue to get better and better until the end of this crisis. Amen
