It’s been 53 years today since the Union Jack was brought down and replaced by the green white green flag that we are all familiar with now.
Nigeria became an independent country after decades of colonial rule on 1st October 1960 and the country has been celebrating that date as Independence Day ever since.
It’s usually customary for a public holiday to be declared and march pasts would be held at the Federal Capital Territory and other state capital.
We at Urnaija simply want to use this opportunity to wish every Nigerian a HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION!!!
