Odemwingie And Moses On Call For Stoke As They Beat Defending Champions, City, 1-0

Nigeria’s duo of Victor Moses and Peter Odemwingie were both on call for Stoke when their team beat defending Champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad stadium, City’s home soil.

Moses made the starting line-up but was substituted for Muniesa in the 80th minute while Odemwingie was brought in to replace Walters at the beginning of the second half.

Senegalese international and former Manchester United player, Mame Biram Diouf made a fine solo effort, which stunned the champions.

The Senegal international United striker raced 70 yards before slotting the ball under England’s No.1 goalkeeper, Joe Hart, in the 58th minute of the match.

He could have made it two moments later but was inches away from connecting with Peter Odemwingie’s cross with the goal at his mercy.

The hosts could have had a late penalty but Yaya Toure was booked for diving.

Stoke had lost all 12 previous league matches against the two Manchester based teams and manager Mark Hughes will savour this victory at his former club.
