34 Beauties Vie For MBGN 2013
Thirty-four contestants for this year’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant have started rehearsals in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State according to the MBGN website.
Hollywood Choreographer Juliet Hagermann is on ground to take the girls through various routines, including dancing.
Some of the girls who spoke to our correspondent expressed delight at the serene environment in Bayelsa and the hospital of the host state. The MBGN pageant holds on the twentieth of this month in Yenagoa.
The Pageant, a brain child of Silverbird productions, dates back to 1983 when it was called Miss Universe Nigeria but in 1986 it was rebranded and renamed the Most Beautiful girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant.
Past winners include Lynda Chuba, also crowned Miss Africa, and went on to become Honourable Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu, a member of Nigeria’s National Assembly and Agbani Darego, the first ever Miss World of the black race who also qualified for the semi-finals of the 2001 Miss Universe Competition that year.
The reigning beauty queen and current MBGN is Isabella Ayuk.
