A 37-year-old man died in hospital after he was stabbed inside an establishment in Qawra, in the northern region of Malta.
The police said they were informed that a Nigerian man was stabbed during an argument in Triq il-Gifen, at around midnight.
The man was given first aid by paramedics and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. He was initially found to be in critical condition but died at around 1am.
A person is helping the police in its investigations.
Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading an inquiry and the police are also investigating the case.
