A University Graduate And Hair Salon Owner

My name is Padonu Funmilayo Roseline and I’m the CEO of Rosehairz at Nta Ajara topa Badagry.

I’m from a relatively large family, fourth of six children and I have two of my own with my husband.

Truth is I never intended to become a hairstylist.

After completing my secondary school education in 2006 an elderly person advised me to go and learn a skill instead of sitting around idly while waiting for JAMB results.

I grudgingly took her advice and opted for hair styling but I wasn’t really taking it seriously.

I didn’t focus on the trade until I sat for JAMB three times and didn’t make cut-off for the course I wanted to study on all three occasions.

That was when I had a second opinion about the hair styling trade I was already learning and started taking it seriously.

I completed my hair styling training in 2010, set up my own salon and then applied to AOCEOD, now LASUED for part-time study to study English/Sos.

I enrolled during the 2014/2015 session and graduated with the 2019/2020 class with a Bachelor’s Degree in English/Sos.

Today, I’m a university graduate and running my own hair styling business.

I also teach secondary school students (Vocational Tech) Cosmetology. Above is a clip of me teaching at Ajara Comprehensive High School

I’ve had apprentices. Some completed their training while others did not.

At present I have thirteen apprentices.

**While studying for my Bachelor’s Degree, I also went for a 2-week Make-up course. So I specialize in hair styling and make-up**
