Yet another video has emerged on the Internet of a Nigerian policeman attempting to extort money from a motorist on Friday 20th September 2013.
According to the whistleblower who posted the video on the internet, the incident happened at the Onitsha Area Command in Anambra state.
In the said video, the policeman could be heard arguing with the motorist whose face was not shown over the engine number of the vehicle written on a piece of paper that did not correspond with that written on the engine itself or something to that effect.
All efforts to appeal to the cop’s sense of reasoning fell on deaf ears as he insisted that there was a discrepancy, which implied that the vehicle was stolen. A female voice could be heard in the background speaking in Igbo.
Eventually the policeman asked for a ten thousand naira bribe, which the motorist refused to pay.
The Policeman could actually be heard saying, “If you steal vehicle dem go collect money from you?” Implying that he knew the vehicle was not stolen but simply wanted to take advantage of the discrepancy on the piece of paper.
The policeman, who was probably one of the three policemen whose names were given at the start of the video, came down from the vehicle and asked the driver to come down as well.
The video was reportedly shot by one Tola Tim and posted on youtube.
