Arewa Consultative Forum, Fani-Kayode, React To Obasanjo’s Letter To Buhari

Prominent Nigerians have been reacting to the bombshell former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, dropped on Tuesday asking President Buhari to not to contest in 2019.

One of the firsts to react was former Aviation minister and PDP chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode whose terse reaction was contained in a tweet:

Another reaction was from the Arewa Consultative Forum, which comprises most of the most prominent Northern Nigerians. Everyone expecting a harsh criticism of Obasanjo’s letter to Buhari was proven wrong by their rather lame response:

The ACF simply replied on Tuesday that it was his (Obasanjo’s) democratic rights to have made the statement made.

However, the ACF, through the National Publicity Secretary, Muhammadu Biu, said it was President Buhari’s prerogative and that of his party to decide whether to re-contest or not.

The statement said, “The statement credited to former President Obasanjo that President Buhari should not run in the 2019 election, it is his democratic right to express his view like any other Nigerian on all issues, including democracy.

“However, it is President Buhari’s prerogative and that of his party to decide on whether to re-contest or not.”
