The president, Muhammadu Buhari has been seriously criticised on Twitter after he said in a speech delivered on Monday that after eight years his administration will have laid the foundation to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Premium Times, one of the newspapers, which reported the president’s claim were quick to point out the flaws in the president’s claim by stating that the World Poverty Clock in 2018 reported that Nigeria had overtaken India with the largest number of people living in extreme poverty.
According to the report released in May 2018, Nigeria now has an estimated 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared to India’s 73 million.
The harshest criticism, however, came from Nigerians on Twitter:
Baba has taken colorado…..!

Nigeria is assumed to be 200m, so Buhari himself knew that 100m; half of the whole nation are strangled by impoverishment? That is a terrible report card for any leader.

This man is sick. Can his aides please check him into Aso Rock clinic for check up cos it's obvious he's not alright. Or best bet, he should just visit his London clinic 4 check up so he can get some London hot slaps from Nigerians in UK! That may reset everything back to normal
