Msn.com has revealed that Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez has disclosed in a television interview that Cristiano Ronaldo is still the world’s most expensive player as the actual transfer fees paid for Christian Bale last summer was less than what was paid for Ronaldo.
In an interview with Interconomia television channel, Perez was asked whether Real’s summer signing had been insured for €91 million (£77 million).
“Yes, sure,” he said. “It’s a life insurance, against accidents. Bale is insured for the amount he cost.”
That means Bale’s fee actually came in just below the €94 million (£80 million) paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
In the interview, conducted entirely in Spanish, he also stated that Bale is fit to play debunking rumours about Bale’s injury.
“A protrusion is very normal in athletes.” He said.
Ronaldo still holds the record of most expensive player in the world afterall.
