A 30-year-old barber was shot dead by a customer after he was allegedly denied haircut ahead of others who were already present at a saloon in Southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Tuesday night, according to the Indian Express.
The deceased barber was identified as Mohammed Irshad Salmani, a resident of Shaheen Bagh.
The accused was identified as Afam. He fled from the spot and is still on the run.
“When Afam arrived, the victim’s son, Ikrar, was at the shop. Afam demanded a haircut ahead of the others waiting there. Ikrar asked him to wait for his turn. At this, the accused allegedly slapped him thrice,” a police officer said.
“Ikrar then ran home and called his father to the shop. Before Irshad could ask what the matter was, Afam allegedly whipped out a pistol and shot him in the chest. He escaped from the spot soon after. Irshad was rushed to a nearby hospital and police were informed about the incident. Irshad, however, was declared brought dead by doctors,” the officer said.
The case has been reported and a hunt is on for the accused.
