Buhari Thanks Obama For The Pressure Maintained On Jonathan To Conduct Free And Fair Elections

President Buhari in his response to Obama’s welcome speech at the Oval office earlier on Monday thanked the president in particular and the US government for the pressure maintained on the former president Goodluck Jonathan to conduct free and fair elections.

According to Buhari if not for the pressure coming from the US and other European states on the former president, Nigeria would not be where we are.
President Buhari is currently on a working visit to the United States to see the US president, Barack Obama.

White House officials said the fact that Buhari was arriving in Washington so soon after taking office was a sign of the importance the US places on relations with Nigeria.
