Chelsea Doctor Thanks Fans For Support After Mourinho’s Outburst Against Her
Chelsea doctor, 41-year-old Eva Carneiro, has spoken out and thanked the public for their “overwhelming” support after Blues manager Jose Mourinho criticised the actions of his medical staff in the 2-2 draw with Swansea on Saturday, according to an Independent report.
Down to 10 men after Thibaut Courtois’s sending off, Carneiro entered the pitch to treat Chelsea’s best player Eden Hazard in the closing stages of the game after he suffered a minor injury, forcing the Blues to go temporarily down the nine men.
Mourinho became angry and animated right at the end of the match when Chelsea’s medical staff rushed to treat forward Hazard.
“I wasn’t very happy with my medical staff because you have to understand the game,” Mourinho said afterwards.
“If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem. I was sure that Eden didn’t have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired.
“My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counter attack after a set piece and we were worried we didn’t have enough players left.”
