“Collapsed Church Had Many Structural Faults” – Experts
Nigeria’s engineering regulatory body says a church that collapsed over the weekend and killed up to 160 people had many structural faults, the AP news agency reports.
Kashim Ali, president of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, also says the structure did not have the required building permit
He has urged the engineers involved to hand themselves in to authorities.
Building collapses are relatively common in Nigeria, mainly due to the use of sub-standard materials and the violation of building regulations.
