Damaturu Eid Bomb Blast: Bloomberg Puts Death Toll At 50

The death toll from the bomb blast at a prayer ground in Damaturu as worshipers gathered for Eid prayers on Friday has been put at 50, according to a Bloomberg report.

Two bombers, an elderly woman and a 10-year-old girl, detonated explosives at prayer grounds in the capital of Yobe state at about 7:40 a.m., Nigerian army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said in an e-mailed statement.

Another bomber was probably the only fatality from a third blast in the city, said resident Tijjani Ba Kura.

“This attack indicates that no where is safe, it occurs here and there, killing innocent people, it is very horrific,” Goni Bukar Lawan, another resident, said from Damaturu.
