Former England forward John Barnes says he does not think the English national team will win the World Cup in Brazil next year.
England qualified for the finals of the FIFA World Cup taking place in Brazil next year with a 2-0 victory over Poland at Wembley on Tuesday.
Barnes, the ex-Liverpool winger, while speaking to a BBC reporter in a recorded interview, said he believes there will be too many teams better than England in Brazil, but says they can go there with the confidence to do well.
He said the only chance England has of winning the World Cup next year is if they play to their optimum best and all their opponents play below par – before concluding that the likelihood of that happening is very low.
