Argentina has beaten the Netherlands 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out to set up a replay of the 1990 World Cup final with Germany who qualified by walloping Brazil 7-1 in Tuesday’s semi-final match.
After both teams remain tied in a scoreless draw for 120 mins the winner had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out which Argentina won.
The match was nothing compared to Tuesday’s unforgettable semi-final match between Brazil and Germany. It was even described as ‘drab’ by some football commentators.
Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain kicked the best opportunity into the side-netting in normal time.
Argentina’s Sergio Romero saved from Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder in the shootout, before Maxi Rodriguez struck to put Argentina in the final for the first time since 1990.
