Lewis Hamilton Refused Entry To Wimbledon Final Because He Wasn’t Properly Dressed

Lewis Hamilton had to miss the Wimbledon men’s final after he was refused entry to the Royal Box for falling foul of the dress code.
The Formula One champion was due to watch the match between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer from the exclusive Centre Court area, where he would have rubbed shoulders with the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Grant.
Hamilton showed his excitement on the way to SW19 by posting a picture of his tickets on his Instagram account.
He wrote: “On my way to Wimbledon to watch the final!
“Honoured to have been invited to watch the men’s finals from the Royal Box!”

But it didn’t go to plan and he ended up leaving the grounds before the match had finished.

Men invited into Royal Box must wear a tie, jacket and shoes – and the two-time world champion failed to qualify.

Another picture Hamilton posted online showed his actual attire, which included a hat, but no tie or jacket.

In the image, which he simply captioned “Wimbledon”, the racer could be seen indoors with a grass court in the background.

Hamilton’s spokesman said: “Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men’s final.”

A Wimbledon spokesman confirmed Hamilton had exited early, but would not comment further.

The spokesman said: “If he was not adequately dressed you could infer that he would not have been let in, but we do not comment on our guests.
“If he came without a jacket, tie or shoes he would have had two choices – not staying or going to get some extra stuff.”
