Mathew McConaughey Becomes University Professor
It has been announced that Matthew McConaughey would be joining the Department of Radio-Television-Film in the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin later this year.
McConaughey has served as a visiting instructor at the university since 2015, but has now been named a professor of practice and will be co-teaching the Script to Screen class. The 49-year-old Oscar winner told UT News that he developed the curriculum with his own education in mind:
“It’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art—no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus.”
McConaughey graduated from UT Austin with a film degree in 1993.
