Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho’s, wishes to draw Galatasaray so that Didier Drogba would have another opportunity to play at Stamford Bridge has been fulfilled as UEFA released draws for the Round of sixteen on Monday.
Shortly after Chelsea’s last group match against Steua Bucharest, which they won by a lone goal, ‘the happy one’ expressed a desire for Chelsea to draw
Galatasaray, the Turkish side that former Chelsea goal poacher, Didier Drogba plays, for currently.
He said he wished to see Drogba play at Stamford Bridge again and get the kind of reception he received when he returned to the Bridge for his second stint as Chelsea’s manager.
In Monday’s draws, Mourinho’s wishes were granted – not intentionally, we must add – when the draws for the Round of sixteen were made and his side was drawn to play the Turkish side.
Their first encounter will be at the Turk Telekom Arena, Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday, 26 February 2014.
The second encounter, the one Mourinho has been anticipating, will come up on Tuesday 18 March, 2014 at Stamford Bridge, London.
