Nigeria Loses Aviation Hub Status To Ghana

Nigeria has lost its status as the aviation hub in West Africa to Ghana, which has taken over fuelling foreign aircraft and accommodating their cabin crews from its neighbour, according to a report in aviationnewsonline.com

The price of Aviation Turbine Kerosene or Jet-A1, which is imported, has doubled in price from N120 some months ago to N240 per litre since the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced the flexible foreign exchange policy. Ghana has since slashed the cost of Jet-A1 by 20%.

Due to the hike in the fuel price and its irregular supply, foreign airlines experienced difficulties refuelling during their trips and have since decamped to Ghana.
