Tottenham Hotspur defender, Destiny Udogie, made his debut for former world champions, Italy, as they defeated Malta 4-0 in a 2024 European Championship qualifier played at the Stadio Comunale San Nicola (Bari) on Saturday night.
The Italian born Spurs star is of Nigerian descent but eligible to play for Italy.
Udogie, who played for Italy at various Youth levels, earned his first senior cap for Italy’s October fixtures against Malta and England.
The 20-year-old former Italian Youth was brought in in the 79th minute to replace Federico Demarco as left-back.
Italy were already three goals up before manager Luciano Spalletti handed Udogie his senior debut.
Italy’s goals were scored by Giacoma Bonaventura, 34, his first international goal for the dominant hosts, before Domenico Berardi struck twice.
Davide Frattesi tucked an effort inside the post for the fourth in injury time.
