The shortlist for the best football player in 2016, otherwise known as Ballon d’Or, has been released and there isn’t a single Nigerian player on the list.
France Football magazine has revealed the 30-man shortlist on Monday.
Fifa ended its association with the award in September.
Notable players on the list include, Algeria international and Leicester City player Riyad Mahrez and his Leicester City team mate James Vardy, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, and Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
France international and West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet is also on the shortlist.
The list also features past winners Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
Another prominent name on the shortlist and current CAF player of the year, Gabonese international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
