Nigerian football fans woke up on Wednesday morning to news that former Chelsea, Man United and Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho, has replaced Mauricco Pochetino as Spurs manager.
Tottenham reached the Champions League final last season under Pochettino, but lost 2-0 to Liverpool in Madrid.
The Argentine, who was appointed in May 2014, did not win a trophy in his time in charge of the north London club, with Spurs’ last silverware being the League Cup in 2008.
Reactions to the news have come thick and fast:

Jose Mourinho has become the new manager of Tottenham despite saying back in 2015 that he could never manage the club out of respect for Chelsea.

Congratulations to Tottenham. Ambitious clubs aren't ever afraid to switch things up when they go in the wrong direction. Now, no sane person will bet against them winning a trophy or two under a Jose Mourinho in pursuit of redemption!

The only thing that can make him succeed is making funds available to buy top quality players. I don't think spurs can do that. Hence, I predict failure for JM. I'm a big fan of his, but I'd have preferred him go to bayern or any other club that match his quality. I wish him well
