Nigeria’s Peter Odemwingie sat on the bench throughout what should have been his first match for Cardiff City on Saturday in their one all draw against Hull City while his compatriot, Aluko, shone for the opponents.
The match also featured Nigeria’s Sone Aluko who was a star attraction for the opposing team, Hull City. Aluko scored a goal with an assist from Quinn in the 79th minute of the match, which unfortunately, was disallowed.
Cardiff looked good to win the match on Saturday, having started the season with an impressive 3-2 win against Manchester City while Hull City lost to Man City by 2-0. Cardiff City have also won four of their last 7 games against Hull.
Aluko’s first attempt at goal came in the sixth minute when his effort was palmed away by Joe Lewis of Cardiff.
Another chance came for the 24yr old Nigerian international in the 26th minute when he did a fancy footwork before lashing out a shot into the side netting. Ten minutes later, Aluko held his head in hands as he dragged a right footed shot wide of the Cardiff post.
The match between the two newly promoted Premiership sides was largely even until the 40th minute when Davies scored for Hull City with an assist from Huddlestone.
Aluko struck again just before half time but his run and shot was blocked by the Cardiff defenders.
First half ended with Hull City leading by a lone goal.
Second half started on a rather cautious note with no serious incursions from either team until the 55th minute when Hull City got a free kick that almost saw them doubling their lead.
Four minutes later, however, Peter Whittingham equalised for Cardiff City with an assist from Nicky Maynard.
The match eventually dragged to an end but not without three substitutions, a yellow card, Aluko’s disallowed goal and the two teams had to settle for a point each.
