Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare has qualified for the Semi-final of the women’s 200m event at the Moscow IAAF Championship.
She finished first in her heat with a time of 22.79s breezing past America’s Charonda Williams in the process.
Okagbare has tried to put behind her the disappointment of failing to clinch a second medal at the Moscow meet after she placed sixth in the final of the 100m event.
The semi-finals will be coming up later today at about 1645hrs, Nigerian time.
Blessing’s qualifying time was the eight fastest qualifying time heats although USA’s Allyson Felix’s fastest qualifying time of 22.59s is still slower than Blessing’s Personal and Season’s Best time of 22.31s.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica and Murielle Ahoure of Cote D’ivore also qualified for the semi-finals.
