Zara Tindall, the Queen’s oldest granddaughter, has given birth to a girl.
She is married to Rugby player, Mike Tindall in July 2011.
The baby was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, and weighs 7lbs 12oz.
Mrs Tindall’s husband Mike was present at the birth. All three are now believed to be back at their home on the Princess Royal’s Gatcombe Park estate.
The baby is the third grandchild for the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, also known as the ‘Princess Royal’. She is also the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild, and becomes 16th in line to the throne.
She is second cousins to little Prince George but will have no royal title, being known simply as Miss Tindall.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.
“The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.”
Prime minister David Cameron tweeted: “Many congratulations to Zara and Mike Tindall on the birth of their baby girl.”
