I’m Ready To Negotiate With Boko Haram – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has said in an interview on CNN with Christine Amanpour that he is willing to negotiate with Boko Haram as long as he can verify that the government is dealing with the right representatives of the militant group.
During the televised interview, Christine Amanpour asked about Boko Haram’s offer to exchange the girls for Boko Haram militants captured by the Nigerian government. In response, president Buhari said the dilema the government was facing over that issue was that of authenticity – the government could not ascertain if those offers were actually coming from people who had authority to speak on behalf of Boko Haram.
He added that if the government could confirm that the offer was genuinely from Boko Haram he was willing to negotiate a prisoner exchange with the militants.
