Russia 2018: Nigeria Head To Russia Unbeaten

The Super Eagles have fulfilled their promise to complete the African qualification series for the 2018 World Cup unbeaten after playing a one-all draw in their last match against Algeria.

As Nigeria had already qualified national pride was all the two teams were playing.

The first half of the match, played in Constantine, Algeria, ended goalless but the deadlock was broken in the 63rd minute by Nigeria’s John Ogu.

Just after Aissa Mandi missed a header inside the six-yard box, John Ogu curls in a beautiful goal from outside the penalty area! Algeria failed to clear their lines properly and Ogu settled the clearance before guiding in a shot with his left foot from over 20 yards out.

Determined not to be beaten in front of a home crowd, the Algerians put up a spirited performance and forced the Super Eagles to concede a penalty, which captain Yacine Brahimi put right down the middle.

After missing several chances during the game Algeria finally succeeded in equalising in the 88th minute of the game forcing the Super Eagles to defend the scoreline, which would still not affect qualification even if it changed.
