Simon Cowel, the x-factor judge and father-to-be, could be facing a jail term for adultery under an obscure New York State statute.
According to the Daily Star, under New York state law, `adultery` is a class B misdemeanor, punishable with a fine of £325 (about N81,250:00) and up to a 90-day prison sentence.
Lauren 36, who is married to Simon Cowell’s friend, Andrew Silverman, is said to be expecting Simon’s baby after she separated from her husband.
Friends of the couple claim, however, that Simon and Lauren were not having an affair while the lady was still married to her estranged husband.
Andrew Silverman has filed for divorce in New York, citing ` adultery ` as the reason for the split and he named Cowell as co-respondent, after their alleged affair was exposed.
The last adultery case that was tried in New York was over three years ago.
