“Group Of Death? What Group Of Death”?

What Arsenal’s summer signing, Mesut Ozil, seems to be saying after scoring a goal for his team and providing assist for the second one in Arsenal’s two nil victory over Napoli on Tuesday night at the Emirates stadium.

Arsenal fans had feared the worst a few weeks ago when they were drawn in the ‘group of death’ in this year’s Champions League.

Their fears have, however, been allayed as the gunners have won the two encounters in the competition so far and are sitting comfortable on top of the so called “group of death” with the maximum six points from the two matches so far.

There’s also the small matter of sitting on top of the English Premier League table with two clear points off second placed Liverpool.

Arsenal started the game well – with a lengthy spell of possession comfortable retaining the ball among themselves.

The strategy yielded results in the 7th minute when German international, Ozil, sidefooted Ramsey’s cross into the opponents’ net. It was his first goal for Arsenal but not that anyway was complaining about the goal drought – if you could even call it that. He had been Arsenal’s playmaker ever since the season started.

Arsenal continued to dominate the game as they retained possession of the ball until Giroud scored the second goal in the 14th minute of the match.

The gunners held on to these early goals until the end of 90 minutes not scoring anymore but more importantly, not conceding any.
