Jonathan Departs Kenya Abruptly Three Days Ahead Of Schedule

Nigeria’s immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan and his family have left Diani, Kenya on Wednesday, three days before the scheduled end of their holiday in the resort town.

According to a Kenyan publication, the Jonathan, who was accompanied by his wife and two children, arrived in Diani on Tuesday after visiting Maasai Mara to witness the annual wildebeest migration.

He was staying at the luxurious Almanara beach resort and was supposed to check out on Saturday but ended up leaving three days earlier.

The hotel’s assistant director Gemma Giovando said they were not sure why he left in a rush but reckoned that it might be because of urgent business issues back in Nigeria.

Jonathan left by the private chopper “FP 5Y-BUV” after having met Kwale county tourism executive Adan Sheikh and other officials at the South Coast.
Sheikh said that he and Goodluck had a good discussion and that his visit to the region is a clear indication that Kenya is the preferred tourist destination for a range of visitors.
“Kenya is secure and now the world can see. When high-profile leaders and other tourists visit Kenya, it is an endorsement of the country as a safe tourist destination” he said.
